RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substance) Background

RoHS compliance is now required by European Union law. That law bans the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl, and polybrominated diphenyl ether from products sold into the EU after July 1, 2006.

From European Union Directives 2002/95/EC:

"From 1 July 2006 new electrical and electric equipment put on the market does not contain lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE)."

Finishes

After extensive research and testing, Cooperative Plating has successfully transitioned to RoHS compliant products.

• Zinc with trivalent clear or yellow chromate:
   Barrel and rack applications
• Lead and cadmium free electroless nickel
• Compliant passivation on stainless steel
• Conductive seal on zinc for superior               corrosion  protection
• Trivalent chromate conversion (iridite)
