RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substance) Background
RoHS
compliance is now required by European Union law. That law bans the
use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated
biphenyl, and polybrominated diphenyl ether from products sold into
the EU after July 1, 2006.
From
European Union Directives 2002/95/EC:
"From 1
July 2006 new electrical and electric equipment put on the
market does not contain lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent
chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), and polybrominated
diphenyl ether (PBDE)."
