Top-Quality Electroless Nickel Plating Services

Electroless nickel plating relies on a chemical reaction to deposit nickel phosphorous in an even layer across a surface. Because no electrical current is required, the process is incredibly versatile. At Co-operative Plating, we are an established provider of a variety of different plating services, including electroless plated processes, and meet Mil-C-26074, AMS 2404 and ASTM-B733-04 standards. No matter what size or shape of the product you have, we will work with you to help select the best plating choice possible.

The Mil-C-26074 Standard

Within the Mil-C-26074 standard, an electroless nickel coating is used on metal and composite surfaces:

  • Class 1 – As plated, no subsequent heat treatment

  • Class 2 – Heat treated to obtain required hardness

  • Class 3 – Aluminum alloys non-heat-treatable, processed to improve adhesion of deposit

  • Class 4 – Aluminum alloys, heat-treatable, processed to improve adhesion of deposit

Thickness

  • Grade A – .0010 inch minimum

  • Grade B – .0005 inch minimum

  • Grade C – .0015 inch minimum

AMS 2404 Electroless Nickel Plating

The AMS 2404 standard covers the requirements for electroless nickel used on various materials. This AMS 2404 electroless nickel plating has been used typically to provide a uniform build-up on intricate shapes, to improve wear and/or corrosion resistance, or to improve solderability on or for selected materials.

Electroless Nickel Plating Features

Covering vulnerable components with electroless nickel plating can protect them from corrosion and prolong their useful life. The process results in an even distribution of nickel phosphorous, even where the surface is curved or irregular. We offer a selection of different strengths, providing exceptional toughness to the finished item. Other options include the addition of TeflonTM to the plating component, which results in greater lubricating properties. Mid or high levels of phosphorus may also be used.
